Chris Jericho vs. Mistico Match Date Confirmed by CMLL

CMLL has revealed the date for the next singles match between Chris Jericho and Mistico.

The promotion announced via X (formerly Twitter) that the fight will take place at the show’s 91st anniversary event. The show will take place on Friday, September 13 at Arena Mexico.

In a video accompanying the announcement, Jericho called the match the greatest of Mistico’s career and one of the greatest of his own.

The 53-year-old caused a stir at CMLL’s Arena Mexico show on June 28, donning a mask to storm the ring and attack the legendary luchador.

Jericho – under the ring name Corazon de Leon, aka Lionheart – wrestled for CMLL during the early years of his career, with his last match for the promotion coming in 1995. Luchablog noted that CMLL had long wanted to bring Jericho back to Arena Mexico.

Jericho and Mistico have only faced each other once before, when Mistico wrestled as Sin Cara in WWE (in a six-man tag team match at Raw 1,000 on July 23, 2012).

While the inaugural AEW World Champion may be in the winter of his career, he recently indicated that he has no plans to retire anytime soon.
