3 West Nile Virus Cases Confirmed in Fresno County

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — Fresno County health officials have confirmed three cases of West Nile virus so far in 2024.

Authorities say the cases were discovered through tests on blood donors.

No information about the patients has been released, but authorities say they were asymptomatic.

Health experts say this is a reminder to remain vigilant as mosquitoes continue to test positive for the virus in Fresno County.

Experts say the mosquitoes that transmit the virus are typically most prevalent from late June to September.

It is essential to take preventative measures such as wearing repellent, staying indoors at dawn and dusk, draining standing water and mosquito-proofing your home.
