SEAL BEACH, Calif. — Local business owners in Seal Beach have a chance to make a big splash in the retail industry by sharing their ideas during Walmart’s annual open call.

Walmart and Sam’s Club are looking for small businesses to add to their catalog of products sold on store shelves. The Open Call Pitch competition gives Seal Beach business owners the opportunity to meet face-to-face with Walmart or Sam’s Club salespeople.

“Open Call provides potential suppliers with valuable information and offers companies of all sizes across the country the opportunity to make a big difference by partnering with Walmart,” Walmart said on its website.

Applications are open until Monday, July 15. Selected companies will be invited to an event in Bentonville, Arkansas, where they will join business owners from across the United States to showcase their products.

In 2023, during the event, salespeople listened to over 1,000 presentations from over 700 companies.

Companies that sign an agreement to sell their products in stores and online with Walmart will reach millions of new customers.

“More than 86% of Walmart customers said it is important for retailers to offer U.S.-made goods,” Walmart said in a statement.
