PACT Offers Grants for Conservation-Related Degrees to Support Future Professionals

The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is inviting students seeking their associate and bachelor’s degrees to apply for assistance under its Youth Academic Support Grant program. The program, now on its second cohort, seeks to assist students who are pursuing associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in areas related to conservation, natural resource management, or a science-based degree that will further the work of conservation in Belize. Janelle Mencias, Communications and Marketing Manager, PACT, says that the grant is aimed at helping students who are in financial need as a means of supporting future conservation professionals. Mencias says PACT has over two decades of conservation work in Belize and began offering the grant last year as part of its greater mission to support conservation efforts through capacity building.

Mencias notes that the applications are online only, and paper-based applications will not be considered. Interested persons are urged to visit PACT’s website or various social media pages for the list of required documents. The deadline for applications is August 9 with the announcement for award winners set for the first week of September.
