Lloyds Bank staff evacuated after suspicious parcel delivered to Edinburgh mail room

Staff at an Edinburgh bank were evacuated on Thursday after a “suspicious” package was delivered to the branch.

Emergency services were called to the Lloyds Banking Group building in the Fountainbridge area of ​​the city shortly after 12.30pm on July 11 in response to reports of a suspicious item.

Postal department employees were evacuated as a precaution.

No harmful substances were detected in the shipment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At approximately 12:40pm on Thursday 11 July 2024, police received information that a suspicious package had been delivered to a retail premises in Fountainbridge, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended the scene and post office staff were evacuated as a precaution.

“After examination of the shipment, no harmful substances were found.”
