The forum will be held at the United Nations in New York from 8 to 18 July.

The first day’s session, titled “From Vision to Impact: Integration to Achieve Sustainable Social and Environmental Change,” focused on raising awareness of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and Quality of Life Program initiatives and their role in achieving the SDGs.

The sessions discussed key urban challenges and ways to address them using advanced data and practices, innovations, and the impact of collaboration, participation and exchange of experiences in achieving local, regional and international goals.

The second day of the forum saw an event on the theme of “Quality of Life and Its Relationship to Sustainable Development,” which featured discussion sessions and interactive lectures attended by a group of experts and officials from Saudi Arabia and around the world.

During the opening of the event, the Director General of the Quality of Life Program, Khaled Al-Bakr, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the role of the program in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and sustainable development, pointing out that efforts are being made to improve the quality of life for all people in Saudi Arabia through a range of initiatives focusing on areas such as art and culture, sports, tourism, urban development, entertainment, hobbies, and safety.

He said: “We strive to find innovative solutions and create a knowledge system that redefines quality of life, and our collaboration with global partners such as the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) strengthens our efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.”

The events were attended by representatives of a number of government agencies, the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the National Center for Supervision of Compliance with Environmental Requirements and the General Authority for Food Security, the Royal Commission for Riyadh, the Royal Commission for the Governorate of Al-Ula, the Authority for the Development of the Medina Region, the Urban Observatory of the Kassim Region.
