Police said a guard noticed suspicious movement in Sang area of ​​Basantgarh in Udhampur district.

“The Sentry opened fire toward the tree line after spotting suspicious movement,” the official said.

He stated that there was no attack on the armed forces, which is information circulating on some social media.

“People should refrain from spreading unconfirmed posts,” the official said.

A large-scale search has been underway in Kathua district for the past three days following an attack in which five soldiers were killed and five injured.

Security forces also increased operations in forested areas of Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban and Doda districts of Jammu division.
