Park suspect arrested on heroin possession charges

A Carthage man is facing three drug charges after Whispering Pines police were “alerted to suspicious activity at a local park.”

Aaron Deese was arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and possession of drug preparation equipment, the Whispering Pines Police Department said in a news release.

“On June 28, 2024, members of the Whispering Pines Police Department were notified of suspicious activity at a local park,” the department reported July 2. “Officers located the suspect and during the investigation, located narcotics and paraphernalia.

The suspect was booked into the Moore County Detention Center on $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in court July 25 and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
